Moon Garden
Moon Garden is an installation I created for Paradice Palase’s Twist and Twine, an open call exhibition juried by Tiffany Smith and Paradice Palase. The work was a response to a prompt about heritage and personal roots. This piece represents a combination of motifs and objects that evoke my origins via my parents; an aerospace engineer and a scuba diver. Themes of outer space and underwater recur in my work and are derived from my experiences of wonder, loss and grief regarding my parent’s proclivities and untimely deaths. The installation combines shells, “moonrocks,” aquatic plants, bones, and other bodily artifacts associated with corporeal being. The artifacts co-mingle in an imaginary habitat that evokes the unknown.
